OAK MASTER®. Toasted oak infusion closures that improve the sensory properties of spirits, wines and beers by releasing moderate amounts of compounds involved in the senses of smell and taste.

These organoleptic qualities vary according to the botanical source of the wood, its origin, weight and the intensity of the toasting applied.

OAK MASTER® closures are mainly characterized by their antioxidant properties, thanks to their ellagitannin content and provide an improvement in the structure of the wine by increasing the sensation of volume in the mouth, adding sweetness (thanks to oak polysaccharides) and helping to preserve varietal characteristics by absorbing volatile compounds in wine that produce undesirable aromas.

The OAK MASTER® world is part of the research and development of Macaulay & Cumming as licensees of the patent rights and designs of the alternative stoppers that infuse the oak compounds inside the bottle. Our suppliers are the best and most recognized in each division in both caps and oak. Our main oak supplier is the GANGUTIA La Rioja Cooperage.

The wood used in OAK MASTER® stoppers dries naturally in the open air for 2-3 years so there are less tannins, dry extracts and IPT. Due to the natural drying in La Rioja, the wood provides less amount of coumarins, greatly reducing bitterness.

In addition, it has been shown that the contribution level of vanilla and eugenol aromas is twice that of drying by artificial methods. The natural drying method provides a lower number of lactones, but abundant Cys-isomers, which are what produce the aromas.

Our only supplier is accredited and PEFC (Certificate of Conformity for Chain of Custody of Forest Products) and all this is compatible with the commitment to the caring environment and environmental sustainability.

The roasting process is carried out using convection ovens to obtain a more homogeneous and deep roasting range, a quality that cannot be obtained by traditional roasting methods.

All OAK MASTER® closures are individually assembled under license from their patents.

With the application of OAK MASTER 1 cubic meter of oak wood we are going to provide aromas, flavor and color to 35,000 bottles in 8 weeks without consuming any type of energy or resources. It is a clean, dynamic method without deception, oak can be seen, touched and smelled.

Our wood suppliers are accredited with the ISO 9001 Quality Certificate by ECA CERT (Bureau Veritas) and PEFC (Certificate of Conformity for Chain of Custody of Forest Products).
